south fork lodge

While employed at EDAW, Inc., Craig provided design and planning services for this 20-acre parcel that fronts the scenic Snake River. The plan includes an exclusive lodge, restaurant and cabins for individuals and families to fish the gold medal trout waters of the Snake. As an alternative to traditional leach fields, in this sensitive area, submerged wetlands were proposed for wastewater treatment. The proposal won overwhelming approval at a public meeting as well as county approval. This approach minimized site impacts and saved two-thirds of the cost of installing a conventional large area system.

The master planner sited all facilities, designed road and circulation systems, designed a 2 1/2-acre pond, overviewed river bank reconstruction and protection, and designed extensive native plantings including 15-20 foot tall conifers to screen the adjacent highway and create seclusion.
