st. clare hospital master plan and garden
The St. Clare Health Center is a new health care campus in Kirkwood, Missouri that occupies a 58-acre property. While employed at EDAW, Craig collaborated with the project architect in master planning the facility and provided landscape design services. Fulfilling an extensive design program, the site plan accommodates circulation and parking needs for a cancer center, emergency ward, surgical center, office spaces, and a 5-story patient tower. Strolling gardens and courtyards are strategically located to provide contemplative and tranquil spaces for patients, while creating views from patient windows that are stress-reducing and promote healing. Entry and arrival zones were designed to create an uplifting and hopeful environment for patients and visitors, and the perimeter of the site was left undisturbed or re-vegetated to a low-water use native prairie landscape.
