elmendorf play environment

As part of the on-call contract with Denver Parks and Recreation, Russell + Mills Studios designed a new play environment for this local park to replace an aging, outdated playground. The new play area reflects the principals of the newly completed Denver Playground Master Plan, and successfully integrates with and complements the adjacent elementary school learning landscape, providing a community gathering space and play environment focused on 2-5 yr. play. This adjacency allows for the promotion of shared play environments while retaining the educational aspects that learning landscapes have. The new play area was constructed in Fall 2009.
