Russell + Mills Studios were selected to create a master plan for an existing park located on the Laramie River Greenbelt Trail, in Laramie, Wyoming. The plan creates a unified park and provides spatial definition and circulation enhancements to an older existing park that was expanded as the Laramie Greenway Trail was created to connect through. The existing condition is one of two separate spaces that lacked connectivity, and suffering from disconnected program uses.
The design was created after a community meeting and presentations to the Parks and Tree Advisory Board. The program looked at creating a hub for the park, a large open lawn space for a variety of uses, a new play environment, organized parking for the park and trailhead, a dog park, new restroom and pavilion facility, native grasses and potential river access. The plan also included a detailed phasing strategy so the overall plan can be implemented as funding becomes available.
