ruby hill park - denver parks and recreation
Under our on-call contract with Denver Parks and recreation, Russell + Mills Studios completed the design for Ruby Hill Park, an 85-acre park designated as a regional park in the Denver Parks and Recreation park system.
In need of a major facelift in order to be brought up to current park standards, Russell + Mills Studios worked with an Advisory Board to create the vision for the next generation Ruby Hill Park. Intended to be implemented in phases as funding becomes available the park has been redesigned to celebrate the park's unique identity and amazing 360 degree views.
The designs aim to create a regional park that serves the greater area and provides for many users. The proposed removal of the existing internal spaghetti road system enables the park to be joined to create large connected spaces void of vehicle traffic and assists in the park becoming a regional asset. The additional of multi-use trails also adds a circulation system not currently available in the park.
The advisory group meetings culminated in a public presentation and the designs have ben well received by the community. The first phase of construction will include the playground, overlook, restrooms, pavilion, park-wide irrigation and circulation changes. Phase 1 is scheduled to start in 2009 and documentation has begun for construction.
