ruby hill park - denver parks and recreation

Under our on-call contract with Denver Parks and recreation, Russell + Mills Studios completed the conceptual design for Ruby Hill Park, an 85-acre park designated as a regional park in the Denver Parks and Recreation park system.

In need of a major upgrade in order to be brought up to current park standards, Russell + Mills Studios worked with an Advisory Board to create the vision for the next generation Ruby Hill Park. Intended to be implemented in phases as funding becomes available, the park has been re-designed to celebrate the park's unique identity, topography and its amazing 360 degree views of the mountains and city skyline.

The design intent is to create a regional park that serves the greater area and provides for many users. The proposed removal of the existing internal circuitous road system enables the park to be joined to create large connected spaces void of vehicle traffic and assists in the park becoming a regional asset. The addition of multi-use trails also adds a circulation system not currently available in the park. The advisory group meetings culminated in a public presentation and the designs were well received by the community.

Russell + Mills Studios developed construction documents for Phase One implementation that includes a new play environment, a signature restroom and pavilion, and the first stage of eliminating some internal roads. The first phase of construction has begun and will last into 2011.
